MESSAGE FROM THE CONVENTION CHAIR

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am extending the invitation to all professionals engaged in laboratory biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management to attend the 17th Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association Annual Biorisk Conference in conjunction with the BioRisk Association of the Philippines’ 7th Annual Convention and 5th International Forum with the theme ‘Strengthening Global Partnerships for Biosafety and Biosecurity: Bridging Borders and Addressing Emerging Challenges’ on September 3-6, 2024 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City, Philippines.

In today's interconnected world, where challenges know no borders, the importance of fostering global partnerships in biosafety and biosecurity cannot be overstated. This conference will serve as a platform for experts, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders from around the world to come together, share insights, and collaborate toward building safer and more secure laboratories.

Our annual gathering this year promises to be one of the largest international gathering of biosafety and biosecurity professionals and other enthusiasts in biorisk management in the Asia Pacific region. So come and join us this September and expand your network on laboratory biosafety, biosecurity, biorisk management, and related fields.

Slated in the conference are various parallel workshops on diverse fields such as risk assessment, transport of biological materials, laboratory design, inspection and auditing, incident reporting, cyberbiosecurity, and many more. The plenary lectures will focus on updates on international guidelines on biosafety and biosecurity, antimicrobial resistance, one health, emerging biotechnology, and best practices, among others. All events are credited with continuing professional development units.

We are making sure that no stones are left unturned as we gear up for another memorable and worthwhile gathering.

See you there!

MESSAGE FROM THE BRAP PRESIDENT

Mabuhay!

It is with great pride and honor that I extend my warmest invitation to all biosafety and biosecurity professionals and advocates, not only within the Asia-Pacific region but across the world, to join us as we hold the 17th Asia-Pacific Annual Biorisk Conference, co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association (APBA) and BioRisk Association of the Philippines (BRAP) on September 3-6, 2024. This event is in conjunction with BRAP’s 7th Annual Convention and 4th International Forum.

In our shared efforts to relentlessly pursue a safe and secure environment in the global context, the theme “Strengthening Global Partnerships for Biosafety and Biosecurity: Bridging Borders and Addressing Emerging Challenges”, is both timely and appropriate. With this conference, we envision to provide cutting-edge technologies, advance knowledge, and a wealth of best practices from various perspectives. The array of pre-conference workshops and scientific sessions, as well as the impactful research works and poster presentations, will surely trigger in-depth and scholarly discussions among the participants.

This conference also aims to bring together world-renowned resource speakers from a wide range of expertise, who are expected to elevate the practice of biosafety and biosecurity to greater heights.

Let us continue to advocate, educate, and innovate toward a safer and more secure future. We are looking forward that this much-anticipated event will further shape a biorisk management agenda that will be beneficial to all.
